Faith Series : Hindrances to our Faith : Part 2

One of the hindrances of faith is unbelief. Unbelief is the opposite of faith and is a negative force that comes against it. Faith is a powerful force, that when it's released and walked in, can dramatically change our lives and make a difference to the people around us.

In Matthew (13:54-58) Jesus came to His hometown to make a difference and was unable to do many miracles there because of their unbelief. It wasn't that He was unwilling to perform miracles, but He was unable to, because of the unbelief in the town. The town's unbelief hindered the flow of the power of God.

Jesus was and is for people, but against unbelief, (matthew (17:14-21), Mark (16:14) and spoke out against it and as Believers we've all struggled in this area, at one time or another. Even Jesus was tempted in this area by satan. When Jesus was led into the wilderness, He was tempted by the devil for forty days and forty nights. Satan tried to get Jesus to doubt who He was, by saying twice to Him "if you are the Son of God." Jesus knew who He was and counteracted the temptation to doubt, by quoting the Word of God. Jesus response to "if you are", was "it is written".

The answer to dealing with and getting rid of unbelief is and always will be the word of God. Romans (12:2) tells us to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Renew you mind to what God says you are, to what God says you can do. Release your faith in God's word and not in what you can feel or see. It may be a fact right now, that your situation seems hopeless, but facts are subject to change and faith in God, in His word, can apply pressure on the facts and change them. Redirect your faith in God's word. God's truth applied can push out unbelief and get rid of it. Believe God's word. Begin to act upon it, pray for the sick believing that they'll get healed. Share the Gospel in word and in love, believing that the people will receive salvation as you share the message of the cross. Believe God and refuse to doubt. Release the force of faith, that God has put within you and make a difference to your community.
