Faith Series : Faith without works is dead

James (2:17) "Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself."

As I've shared in previous posts, we have the faith of God within us, within our re-born, re-created spirits. Having faith, is not an issue, but having faith and failing to act upon it is an issue and will not produce results in our lives. We need to put legs to our faith and begin to beleive God's word and do what God tells us to do on a daily basis.

We do what God says, not because we have to, out of duty or obligation or because we're trying to earn God's love and acceptance. We act upon our faith because we want to, because it's a by-product of our love for the Lord and what we believe, of what God has done in our lives through Jesus's death and resurection. We respond in faith to God's word, to His promises, to His amazing grace and love, through becoming doers of His word and not just hearers only, James (2:22-25). God has done His part through Jesus Christ and our part is to realease our faith and trust in His word and begin to live out our faith in Him, in this world.

In the book of acts we can see the early Church putting action to their faith. They shared the Gospel wherever they went, not only in word, but also in deed through the demonstrations of the power of the Holy Spirit. Countless lives were changed and transformed by the power of God. Many people were converted, healed and delivered through God's people becoming and doing what the Lord created them to do. If we desire to see our friends, family and community transformed by God's love and Glory, then let's be bold in believing God's word and begin acting upon it. Let's begin by sharing the Gospel with wisdom and love, let's pray for the sick expecting them to get healed, let's love the people around us in a genuine way. Let's put legs to our faith and expect to see a another great awakening.
