The Glory Series : What is the Glory?

About a year and a half after I got saved, I experienced God's Glory for the first time in a tangible way. I remember worshiping the Lord in a prison cell, just loving on Him, when suddenly my hands started tingling all over in an awesome way. As I continued to worship Him, the tingling sensation increased more and more, moved up my arms and intensified greatly. Waves of what can only be described as incredible peace began to wash over me. Wave after wave. This experience lasted for about half an hour and has been followed by dozens upon dozens of similar experiences, some longer, some not so long. Sometimes His Glory has been more intense and other times not so intense. Each time I've encounter His presence, I've received a greater desire to want to know Him more. His presence is incredible, amazing and beautiful and better than any high that this world has to offer.

What is the Glory and it's purpose? Can we as believers, experience God's glory and learn to walk in it? First, let's find out what the Glory is, through the Word of God. One of the original herbrew words used to describe "Glory", is "Shekinah". The definition of the Shekinah Glory is God's heavy, weighty presence. God's glory, is His presence and whenever we read of God's presence within the pages of the bible, we're reading of God's Glory. His Glory is heavy and weighty and can be experienced and felt, by our five physical senses in a tangible way, Just as I did and continue to do, to this day.

Another time, I was worshiping the Lord in prison, with a couple of my fellow Christian friends. As we worshiped God, His presence just seemed to manifest in a very tangible way. The very atmosphere was thick with His presence. Suddenly the cell door opened and a prison officer came in asking after me. As he entered the cell, it was like he walked into a wall of God's thick weighty Glory. He was experiencing God's Glory, but didn't know what to make of it. He shook his head with a very confused look on his face, sort of stammered something and walked out of the cell. Glory to God!! When we get consumed with His presence it saturates us and overflows and even affects the unsaved around us.

When I experienced His Glory, I also experienced His peace, which is part of His Character. In the book of Exodus (33:18), Moses asks the Lord to see His Glory and in return, God let's all His goodness pass before Him. God's goodness, is related to His character and nature and encompassed within God's Glory is the very essence of who He is. What is God's nature? His nature is love, peace (I experienced His peace within His Glory), joy, compassion, mercy, grace and all the qualities that are found in His character. God's Glory is God Himself and when we experience His Glory, we're encountering the very God of the universe who created us and loves us.

So, God's glory, is His very presence, which is tangible and also His character and nature, which is who He is. The Glory of God is also described as a cloud and also as a fire. 1 kings (8:11) tells us "the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud, for the Glory of Jehovah filled the house of Jehovah" The ark of the covenant contained God's glory, His presence. The ark of the covenant was kept inside the tabernacle of the tent of meeting. When the israelites moved the tent of meeting in the day, the cloud of God's Glory would cover it. When they moved it in the night, it would be covered by the fire of God's glory. The fire and the cloud spoken of in the bible are also representative of God's awesome Glory. To recap, the Glory is God's presence, His character and nature and also described as a cloud and a fire.

God's Glory is real, because God is real and desires us to experience Him in a deeper way, through being saturated and consumed by His Glory. Praise God for His Glory!

Relationship with God series : Part Six

Jesus, was our great example of the importance of developing a deep, personal relationship with the Lord. Jesus, was a man of prayer and the Word and while He ministered here on this earth, His life was marked by the number one priority of fellowshipping with the Father. Jesus was connected to God through prayer and the Word, through spending time with Him, at every available opportunity.

Jesus was a very busy man and spent His time, here in this world, ministering to thousands upon thousands of people. He healed the sick, cast out demons and discipled the twelve apostles, but He always made sure, that even though He was always ministering to the needs of others, He would take the time to separate Himself, so that He could communicate and chill with His heavenly Father. Jesus wanted to be with the Father and the Father wanted to be with Him.

He would spend time studying the Word and finding out about Himself, through the reading of the scriptures. Jesus was a man of the word and would often teach the masses in synagogues and also in the open. Jesus breathed a very life of communion to the Lord.

Throughout the business of life, lets put our relationship with the Lord first place and set apart quality time, so that we can hang out with the Father. We all lead busy lives, but leading a busy life, is not an excuse to neglect our relationship with the Lord. Jesus led a busy life, so did the early Church, but they put God first and drew their strength from the presence and glory of God and manifested the life and love of God, to all those they came into contact with. Out of our relationship with the Lord, we're able to release the love and Glory of God to a lost and unsaved world.

Relationship with God Series : Part Five

In my last post, I shared about the importance of getting to know God's character and nature, through spending time with Him by studying and reading the word of God. One of the other primary ways of knowing God in an intimate way, is through prayer. The Word of God is important, but prayer is as equally important. We need both in our lives, if we're to begin to grow deeper and more in love with our amazing Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Prayer is a beautiful and awesome privilege. We, as believers, can freely come into the throne room, with boldness to communicate and chill out with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. That's what prayer is, simply communicating and spending time with the Lord most High. We can have access to our heavenly father, because of Jesus. Jesus made a way for us to come into relationship with the Lord, through His death and resurrection. He removed the barrier of sin between man and God, He shed His blood and tore the veil and now we, as Christians, can experience His Glory and presence in a profound way.

Prayer is not a work of the law or flesh. We don't pray because we're trying to make God move in our lives and prayer doesn't change God's view of of us, make Him love us more or impress Him in any way whatsoever. We pray, because through prayer, we become changed from glory to glory and become more like Jesus. Our motive for prayer should be one in which we're so in love with the Lord, that we want and desire to be with Him, not out of duty, but because we're madly and wildly in love with Him. Our hearts desire should be one filled with a overwhelming longing to be with God, at every available opportunity that we get.

Ours hearts should should be ablaze with fire and love for our saviour and like an amazing man of God once said "we set ourselves on fire for God (in a spiritual sense) and the world comes and watches us burn for Jesus!!" Praise God!! Let's be a burning flame of love for Jesus!

Relationship with God Series : Part Four

There are two primary ways that we can develop and grow stronger in our relationship with the Lord. The first one is through spending time with Him in the word of God and the second way is through living a lifestyle of prayer.

Let's begin by focusing on the word of God. Through the word, we gain revelation and understanding, of who God is. As we study and dwell upon the scriptures, God's character, nature and ways are revealed to us so that we get a glimpse of who He is.

Psalm 106:1 "Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endures for ever."

Psalm (106:1) says that God's mercy endures for ever.

1 John 4:8 "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love"

1 John (4:88) says that God is love.

God is mercy, love and the bible also tells us that He is full of compassion and in the book of beginning's (the book of Genesis), moses ask to see God's face, so He passes before him and shows him all of His goodness. There are so many different characteristics of God's nature, that discovering them through God's word is an awesome experience, that enables us to know Him more intimately than we've ever known Him before.

God can speak to us through an audible voice, through our brother's and sister's in Christ, through the prophetic and even through life's circumstances, but God chooses most of the time to speak to us through His word. As we begin to study the Word of God, He speaks life, hope and faith into whatever situations we may find ourselves in. He speaks into our lives and gives us the answers that we need to life's questions. He reveals more and more of His Glory to us and reveals Himself in many ways. As we read the word, we see God as He was meant to be seen and not as the world and media portrays Him. We see Him as a God who cares and desires to become intimate with us in our lives. He's our father and very best friend.

Relationship with God Series : Part Three

Nearly fouteen years ago I gave my life to Jesus while serving a prison sentence and one of the first things that God gave me a revelation of, was the importance of spending time with Him. It was a foundational understanding that helped me use the time that I had, to get to know Him in an personal, intimate way. I distinctly remember at various times, throughout my walk with God, even up until this day thanking, praising and worshiping Him and then being consumed by His presence, His glory, in a tangible way. I would experience waves of His love and peace, that totally wrecked me for Jesus in a positive way. Those times with the Lord gave me a burning desire within me to want to know Him more.

God is calling His Church, the body of Christ, to a place of intimate fellowship with Him, not out of a sense of duty or obligation, but because we're head over heels in love with Him and because we love to just be with Him. As we spend time with the Lord, like the apostles, the people around us will know that we've been with Jesus. His very character and nature will be reflected in us and manifested in our lives. Choose today to sit at the feet of Jesus. He wants to be with you, He wants you to experience His love and presence. Allow His presence to wreck you, so that you'll never be the same again. Glory to God!

Relationship with God Series : Part Two

As I shared in the previous post, spending time with God, is one of the most important things we should do as a believer. Relationship with God is what we were created for. It's our destiny in this world and our reason for living. Within our very D.N.A, is a burning desire to want to know God, personally for ourselves.

John (15:4-5) "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; so neither can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for apart from me ye can do nothing."

Abiding in God, carries with it the idea of being in fellowship and continually connected with the father, through prayer and also the word. Abiding with God means that His life, His love, the fruit of the spirit is flowing freely through us and manifesting in our lives. The character and nature of Jesus is reflected in us as we yield to His life-giving presence. Spending time with God (because we love Him and want to), is abiding in Him and will produce fruit in our lives

The fruit of the spirit and the power of God is a by-product of hanging out with the Lord almighty. It's natural for a fruit tree to produce fruit, it doesn't struggle or strive and as children of God, neither should we. When we choose to chill with God, we naturally become more like Him in every way. Our very being begins to become saturated and soaked with His presence, we begin to carry around with us the very fragrance of Christ.

Choose today to spend quality time with God. He wants to be with you. He loves you so much.

Relationship with God Series : Part one

At the heart of Christianity is a deep personal, intimate, relationship with God through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. Relationship with God, it's our purpose in life, our destiny and the very reason that we were created for. God could have had fellowship with the angels, but He didn't. He could of had fellowship with the animals, but He didn't. He choose us, the pinnacle of His creation, because His desire is for us. The Lord almighty, who created the heavens and the earth, wants to spend time with us. He wants us to experience His presence and love and wants us to know Him more intimately than we've ever known Him before. That's amazing, that's awesome. Praise God! He wants to chill with mankind!

The bible says in Daniel (11:32) "that those that know their God, shall be strong and do exploits". Throughout the bible and history, we see men and women who knew God and consequently saw the power and love of God manifested in their lives. We see enoch Genesis (5:22-24), who walked with God so closely, that it says God took him and he was nowhere to be found. We see Abraham who had such a close relationship with Him, that God called Him a friend of God, James (2:23). Jesus, our saviour, as we all know was and is (God manifest in the flesh), called the Son of God (the four gospels). Last century, there was a man by the name of Smith wigglesworth, who felt undressed if He didn't have His bible on him and felt like he was backsliding, if he wasn't moving forward in his relationship with the Lord. This man saw amazing miracles in His life and ministry. He saw blind eyes open, the deaf hear, tumours fall of bodies, the paralysed and crippled walk by the power of God. He spent hours with God on a daily basis and was a man who knew God.

Do we know God? Do we want to know Him, not out of duty or obligation, but because we love Him and love being with Him? We can know all about Him for the rest of our lives, but until we actually meet Him, through Jesus, and spend time with Him, through His word and prayer, we'll never actually know Him, personally for ourselves. Choose to spend time with Him today. Not tomorrow, but today. He loves you and wants to spend time with you.

Faith Series : Faith-Filled Words

Words. All around us, every day, we hear them spoken and out of our lips they come forth. They bring life and they also bring death, Proverbs (18:21) "The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit." They build us up and they tear us down. They bring blessings and they bring curses. Words are powerful and are used in our lives on a consistent basis. They're used to encourage, but also to criticize.

Words contain within them the power to create and words were used by God, through faith, to create the universe, Hebrews (11:3) In the book of Genesis Chapter One, nine times it says "And God said". The Lord's words were full of faith and as He spoke, the power of God was released to create the universe. Everything we see around us, was spoken into existence by God. Words are carriers and containers of the life, power and love of God, that when released in faith, carry within them the ability and potential to change the situations around us.

Matthew 12:34
"Ye offspring of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh"

"For out of the abundance of the heart", what is in our heart in abundance, will eventually find it's way into our thinking and mouths. As we dwell upon and study the word of God, as we think upon Jesus and the things of The Spirit, our hearts become full and overflowing with abundance, with the very life of God. That life is released through our words, into the natural world around us, to produce change and transformation in peoples lives. Through our words, that are full of truth and grace, we can choose to encourage, build up and speak well of the people around us. All too often we're tempted to criticise, judge and to tear down, but instead let's focus on the positive in people and speak of the positive that we see, so that we can bring the life and love of God to the world. Let's be containers, through our words, to make a difference in peoples lives.

Faith Series : Faith without works is dead

James (2:17) "Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself."

As I've shared in previous posts, we have the faith of God within us, within our re-born, re-created spirits. Having faith, is not an issue, but having faith and failing to act upon it is an issue and will not produce results in our lives. We need to put legs to our faith and begin to beleive God's word and do what God tells us to do on a daily basis.

We do what God says, not because we have to, out of duty or obligation or because we're trying to earn God's love and acceptance. We act upon our faith because we want to, because it's a by-product of our love for the Lord and what we believe, of what God has done in our lives through Jesus's death and resurection. We respond in faith to God's word, to His promises, to His amazing grace and love, through becoming doers of His word and not just hearers only, James (2:22-25). God has done His part through Jesus Christ and our part is to realease our faith and trust in His word and begin to live out our faith in Him, in this world.

In the book of acts we can see the early Church putting action to their faith. They shared the Gospel wherever they went, not only in word, but also in deed through the demonstrations of the power of the Holy Spirit. Countless lives were changed and transformed by the power of God. Many people were converted, healed and delivered through God's people becoming and doing what the Lord created them to do. If we desire to see our friends, family and community transformed by God's love and Glory, then let's be bold in believing God's word and begin acting upon it. Let's begin by sharing the Gospel with wisdom and love, let's pray for the sick expecting them to get healed, let's love the people around us in a genuine way. Let's put legs to our faith and expect to see a another great awakening.

Faith Series : Hindrances to our faith : Part Four

"For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith activated and energized and expressed and working through love" (Amplified Bible, Galatians 5:6).

Our faith is a gift that the Lord has given to us through Christ and not through our performance. We can't earn faith through the things we do, but like everything else the Lord has given to us, have to believe, receive and put our trust in what He has accomplished and given to us through the cross of Jesus. Faith has been given to us, but is hindered through unbelief, fear and also as we can see through the verse just mentioned, a failure to walk in the love of God. As we walk in love towards our brothers and sisters in Christ and also the people that we come in contact with, our faith is activated, energized and expressed through the love that God has placed within us. As we walk in love, our faith in God, in His promises begin to manifest in a real and tangible way. Our faith begins to work.

What is love? 1 Corinthians (13) is the great love chapter and tells us exactly what love is and I would encourage you to read this chapter over and over again, as it's an expression of how God's love is towards us. Romans (8:38-39) says that nothing can seperate us from the love of God. What we do or don't do, cannot change God's love towards us, there's nothing that we can do to make God love us more and nothing we can do, to make Him love us less. His love for us is unconditional, consistant and not based on our performance. Reading the bible, praying, going to church and doing good deeds are all good things, that we as believers should all be doing, but not to change God and make Him love us more. We should be doing these things, so that we will be changed and so that we will love Him more. Love is a manifestation of God's character, nature and all that God is. The bible says that God is Love and when we begin to love one another with the love of God, God's character, nature and pressence is released into this world and our faith becomes more effective and produces results.

We can love like God, for the bible says in Romans (5:5), that the love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. Glory to God, we have God's love within us! We have the same capacity and potential to realease and manifest the love of God, wherever we are and whoever we're with. As we choose to beleive that we have God's love in us and choose to love those around us, in ways that the Holy Spirit leads us to, we will see our faith work and produce life and hope. We may not feel like loving those around us, but make a descion today to love those who may have hurt you in the past. You may be holding unforgivness towards them, but choose to release the love God into their lives. You can make a difference in people's lives, through the power of love.

Faith Series : Hindrances to our Faith : Part Three

As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, faith is not our problem. We have the faith of God and the faith that He's given to us doesn't lose it's power, diminish over time or evaporate. The bible says that all we need is faith as small as a mustard seed, to move mountains, Matthew (17:20). We don't need great faith to accomplish what God has called us to do, to believe the word of God, to share the Gospel and to lay hands on the sick and see them healed. All we need is begin to use the faith that God has given to us through Jesus.

I began to share through my last post, how certain things can hinder us from believing god and releasing our faith. One of those Hindrances is unbelief and another is fear. Before I gave my life to Jesus and received the awesome gift of salvation and the baptism in the Holy Spirit, I struggled greatly in this area. Fear seemed to dominate my life and paralysed my growth as a person. I was very shy and withdrawn and found it very difficult to communicate with the people around me. I was afraid. Afraid of failing, afraid of rejection, afraid of saying the wrong things and afraid that people wouldn't like me. I was bound by fear for a very long time and it took Jesus for me to be set free. Praise God!! I still struggle with the symptoms of fear in my life at times, but not anywhere near close to what I struggled with before I got saved.

Fear is a weapon that the devil uses against God's people, to intimidate and stop us, from fulfilling whatever it is God's called us to be and to do. Satan uses fear to put the brakes onto the Body of Christ, from walking and living in faith on daily basis. In Luke (8:44-50) Jarius, a ruler of a synagogue, was taking Jesus to his daughter of twelve years old, to heal her. As Jesus was on His way there, a woman with an issue of blood touched the hem of Jesus garment and the healing power of God flowed out of Jesus and healed her. While this was going on, someone came from Jarius house, to tell him that his daughter had died. What an opportunity this was for satan to sow fear into this man's mind and emotions and I'm sure Jarius was tempted to be afraid. Notice Jesus reaction to this news and what He says to the ruler of the synagogue, in verse fifty, Jesus says to him "fear not, believe only and she shall be made whole." Jesus response to fear is to believe only. As Jarius refused to be afraid and continued to believe, he saw the power of God raise his daughter from the dead. Fear is faith in what satan can do and faith is believing in the promises of God and in what Jesus can do and what he has accomplished through the cross. Praise God!! Refusing to fear releases the power of God in our lives. In Jarius case he saw his daughter raised from the dead. What an awesome miracle that must have been!

Personally, as I've refused to fear in my life and chosen to obey God, believe His word and act upon it, I've seen many demonstrations of the power of God. I've seen people healed as I've laid hands on the sick, led people to the Lord as I've shared the Gospel with them and done things I never thought possible. Glory to God!! There are many people in the body of Christ today who have also refused to fear and instead have believed and acted on God's word and seen tremendous results in their lives.

The bible tells us that we have been delivered from fear, Romans (8:15), 2 timothy (1:7). Jesus has set us free from fear, it no longer has any hold, power or authority over us anymore, we don't have to give into or tolerate it in our lives for a second longer. Do we believe God's word? Is all our attention on what we feel or on what God Say's in His word about us? Do we believe we've been set free from fear? Let's learn as believer's, to walk in this freedom from fear, so that we can live by faith in this world without out faith being contaminated by fear or anything else that causes our walk with the Lord to be hindered.

Faith Series : Hindrances to our Faith : Part 2

One of the hindrances of faith is unbelief. Unbelief is the opposite of faith and is a negative force that comes against it. Faith is a powerful force, that when it's released and walked in, can dramatically change our lives and make a difference to the people around us.

In Matthew (13:54-58) Jesus came to His hometown to make a difference and was unable to do many miracles there because of their unbelief. It wasn't that He was unwilling to perform miracles, but He was unable to, because of the unbelief in the town. The town's unbelief hindered the flow of the power of God.

Jesus was and is for people, but against unbelief, (matthew (17:14-21), Mark (16:14) and spoke out against it and as Believers we've all struggled in this area, at one time or another. Even Jesus was tempted in this area by satan. When Jesus was led into the wilderness, He was tempted by the devil for forty days and forty nights. Satan tried to get Jesus to doubt who He was, by saying twice to Him "if you are the Son of God." Jesus knew who He was and counteracted the temptation to doubt, by quoting the Word of God. Jesus response to "if you are", was "it is written".

The answer to dealing with and getting rid of unbelief is and always will be the word of God. Romans (12:2) tells us to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Renew you mind to what God says you are, to what God says you can do. Release your faith in God's word and not in what you can feel or see. It may be a fact right now, that your situation seems hopeless, but facts are subject to change and faith in God, in His word, can apply pressure on the facts and change them. Redirect your faith in God's word. God's truth applied can push out unbelief and get rid of it. Believe God's word. Begin to act upon it, pray for the sick believing that they'll get healed. Share the Gospel in word and in love, believing that the people will receive salvation as you share the message of the cross. Believe God and refuse to doubt. Release the force of faith, that God has put within you and make a difference to your community.

Faith Series : Hindrances to our faith : part one

I shared in a previous post, how we, as believers have the faith of God deposited within out reborn, recreated Spirits. Through the new birth, faith has been given to us and is not something we are trying to get, but something we already have. Throughout our walk with God though, there are many Hindrances to our faith, that the bible teaches on. Hindrances that stop the flow and power of God operating in our lives, that stop the promises of God becoming a reality to us. We don't have a faith deficiency, but our problems usually lie in negative Hindrances that come against our faith.

Over the next few posts, I'll be sharing on what these Hindrances are, so that we can become aware of them and learn to deal with these issues through the word of God, the power of the Holy Spirit and prayer.

Faith Series : we've already got faith

Ephesians (2:8) "For by grace are you saved through faith ; and that not of yourselves : it is the gift of God."

Many times as Christians we find ourselves praying "Lord, give me more faith, give me more love, ect". I've done it, as I'm sure other believers have also, but there are some things that we don't actually need to pray for, as God has already, through the new birth, given us these things.

Galatians (5:22-23) speaks of the fruit of the Spirit. One of the fruits of the Spirit is faith. All the fruit of the spirit, which these verses speak of, were deposited within our reborn, re-created human spirit the moment we received the amazing free gift of salvation through Jesus. Faith is something we're not trying to get, but what God has already given to us. Where, if God has already given us faith, is He going to go to get more faith for us. He's already given us faith. We just need to believe, receive and walk in what's He's given to us through the new birth.

Romans (12:3), says He has given every man the measure of faith. We all, everyone of us have an equal amount of faith. God doesn't have favourites, He's not a respecter of persons. He loves and treats us all equally. When He says He's given us an equal measure of faith, He means it.

You have all the faith in the world. It may be dusty, through neglect of use and letting it lie dormant within you all this time, but dust it off, dig it out and activate it, through believing the living word of God and using the faith that God has given you.

John (15:5) "I am the vine, you are the branches; He who abides in me and I in Him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing."

Faith Series : Living by faith

As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we're called to live in a lifestyle of living and walking by faith in God and the promises found in His word (the bible). It says in Hebrews (11:1) that it is impossible to please God without faith. Living by faith pleases God. It took faith for us to receive our salvation, the forgiveness of our sins and it takes faith for us to continually walk with God in this world.

Habakkuk (2:4), Romans (1:17) and Galatians (3:11), all say that the "righteous will live by faith." If we have made Jesus our Lord and saviour, then we are righteous, which means we have right-standing with God. We may not feel very righteous or look very righteous, but according to 2 Corinthians (6:7), we've already been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. We're not trying to get righteous, but have already been been made righteous because of Jesus. The bible says He became sin, so that we could be made righteous. Glory to God! When He looks upon us, on our born-again recreated spirit, not the flesh, but our spirit, He sees us as righteous as righteousness can be.

Living by faith produces victory in our lives. It doesn't matter what your going through or what your facing in your life, place your faith in God and His promises. Believe His word. Pray and seek His face and He will give you the answer you need. We all face problems and crises, but as believers we can walk in faith, through whatever life throws at us, without being affected in anyway whatsoever. We can walk in peace, joy, love, deliverance and victory, knowing that what God says about us in His word true.

Hebrews 11, is the great hall of faith chapter. Throughout this chapter we see men and women of God, living by faith and seeing amazing supernatural results. Even today men and women within the body of Christ are choosing to rise up and live by faith in Christ and are seeing miracles break out, healings take place, lives transformed and in some cases cities and nations radically changed by the power of the Holy Spirit. Will we be the next generation, that rise up in the power of the God, choosing to love the lost and live by faith in this world? Will we believe God and act upon His word? Will we be the people that God's called us to be? A people of faith, a people of love.

1 John (5:4) "For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world, and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith."

Faith series : What is faith?

The word "faith," translated from Greek is called "pistis" and means to believe, rely upon and to trust in. The bibles definition of faith is found in Hebrews (11:1), in most translations it defines faith as being the assurance of things hoped for, but not yet seen. In other translations it says faith is the substance. Faith is tangible, faith is a real living force, that carries within it the ability to change circumstances and make what seems impossible become possible.

Faith is believing in another reality, that is every bit as real as the reality that we perceive around us with our five natural senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste). This other reality is the spiritual realm, that we tap into through faith, faith in truths found in the word of God, that speak of this spiritual reality. We don't see angels, heaven or hell. We don't see our sins forgiven and we've never seen Jesus crucified on the cross, yet we believe in these truths and place our faith not in what we can see, but in very living word of God. The bible says we walk by faith, not by sight. Smith wigglesworth, an amazing man of God, who saw amazing miracles and the power of God manifested in powerful ways, once said "I'm not moved by what I see or what I feel, but I'm moved by what I believe and I believe the word of God."

Faith believes in the promises of God. We may not feel very forgiven or loved by the Lord, but that doesn't mean that what we feel is the truth. Faith doesn't look at our feelings, but instead trusts in what God says about us. Feelings are fickle and can change in an instant, they're not dependable or trustworthy, but are temporal and subject to change. God's word never changes and will always stand the test of time. We can depend upon and trust in the things, that God says about us in the bible. He says in 1 John (1:9) that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and Just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Throughout the bible we read time after time how much He loves us. Have faith in what you believe. Believe God's word and place your faith in the finished work of the cross.

God's will is healing : part two

God, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, has provided and made available to every person in this world, the healing power of God. The very word "salvation" in the Greek is called "sozo" and is used in the new testament several times, it means more than just being forgiven and saved from hell, it also means deliverance, protection, wholeness and healing. It carries with it God's desire and will for healing to be part of His provision for us, not just in a spiritual sense, but in a physical one also.

Matthew 8:16

16 And when even was come, they brought unto him many possessed with demons: and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all that were sick:
17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: Himself took our infirmities, and bare our diseases.

In these verses, Jesus confirms that the prophecy in Isaiah is related to physical healing and not just spiritual. Before He quoted this verse, it says at the end of verse 16, that He was healing all that were sick.

When Jesus was crucified on the cross he took upon Himself all of the sin, sickness and diseases that was on the world, so that we could receive all that God purchased for us through Christ, which includes healing.

Salvation (sozo : deliverance, protection, wholeness and healing) has been freely given to us through what Jesus has done and not by what we can do. We can't earn what God has freely given, but by placing our faith in what Jesus has accomplished and not faith in our works, we can receive healing for our bodies.

Healing is to be received. It's part of God's plan and will for our lives. If your sick today, believe that God wants you well and receive what belongs to you through depending and putting your faith in the finished work of calvery. He loves You so much.

It's His will for you to be healed.

God's will is healing : part one

As Christians, we can know with certainty what God's will is on this earth. How can we know this? We can know this, through looking to Jesus. Jesus is God's perfect will expressed and manifested in this world.

In the book of John (5:19) Jesus tells us that, He only does what He sees the Father doing. Later, in verse 30 He says, He only does the will of the Lord who sent Him. Also in chapter (14:9-11) He goes on to explain how He and God are one and the same.

Whatever Jesus said and did while He spent His time on earth ministering to all the people around Him, was also what God was saying and doing, for Jesus and God is one.

Jesus, when He walked the earth two thousand years, ministered the healing power of God wherever He went. Throughout the Gospels we see the sick and dying being brought to Jesus. Jesus never turned anybody away, but instead the scripture records that on many occasions, He healed all the sick that came to Him. Later Jesus delegated His power and authority to the disciples and then to the church, then He sent them out to preach the Gospel and to heal the sick.

It is God's will to heal the sick. The bible says that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. If Jesus was in the business of healing two thousand years ago, then He's in the same business today and always will be, because healing is a part of who He is and also who the church is.

God's will is for you to be healed today. It's His will and desire.

Acts (10:38) "How God anointed Jesus with power and with the Holy Spirit and how He went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with Him."

The power of God

Romans (1:16) "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek"

The Gospel, simply means good news. The Gospel (good news) of Jesus Christ to the lost and unsaved is through faith in Jesus Christ's death and resurrection (not faith in our own works), we can escape a very real place called hell and receive forgiveness of sins, a new life and a place guaranteed in heaven.

The gospel contains within it the very power of God. When we as Christian's, with the motive of love, share the message of salvation through the cross of Jesus, God's power is released into this world. Hope is brought where there is no hope.

Verse 17 of  Romans chapter 1 goes onto say that in the Gospel the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith. Righteousness simply means "right with God" or "right-standing with God". It means we can stand before a Holy God knowing that all our sins, past, present and future have been forgiven. We can stand before Him being washed clean through the precious blood of Jesus, that was shed on the cross for us. Because of Jesus we can come to know God as our heavenly Father and very best friend.

I've learnt over the years to be bold in sharing and preaching the message of reconciliation to God through Jesus Christ. I've had numerous opportunities to lead people to the Lord through my time in prison and also through witnessing on the street and what an honour and privilege It's been. Glory to God! The gospel is the power of God and brings salvation.

Be bold in sharing the Gospel and also being a witness to the people around you. Through living a lifestyle of love never be ashamed of sharing Jesus with your work colleague's, school friends or whoever your with. The Gospel is not just words, but a very real message that when received in faith brings about radical change in peoples lives.

It is the power of God!

Delivered from fear

2 Timothy (1:7)

"For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, a spirit of love and of self-discipline."

One of the first areas in my life that I received deliverance from after I became a Christian, was fear. Before I got saved I was a very shy and withdrawn individual. When I say shy, I mean to the point in which I found it very difficult to communicate with the people around me. I was fine with the friends that I grew up with, but with people I didn't know, my mind would just be a blank. I was bound by fear. Fear of failure, fear of what people thought and of people in general. It was an irrational fear that held me in bondage for a long time.

In 1997, while on remand awaiting a prison sentence, I gave my life to Jesus and my life was radically changed by the power and love of God. Fear left me and I immediately began to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Fear and anxiety left and was replaced by boldness and love.

Romans (8:15)

"for you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the spirit of sonship, and by Him we cry "Abba, Father.""

It's not God's will or desire that we the Church live in or put up with fear any longer. Fear is bondage. It holds us back from releasing God's full potential that is in us. It puts a stop in doing what the lord has called us to do. Many times in the Bible we hear the comforting words of Jesus to "fear not" or "be not afraid". He also said in the last chapter of the book of John, that He is with us always. If God is with us, why do we need to be afraid. If the Very God of the universe is for us and not against us, then we have nothing or nobody to be afraid of.

I want you to know that you can receive freedom from fear. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus we have been set free. Jesus came to set the captives free. Refuse to fear any minute longer. Place your faith in Jesus and the finished work of the cross. Thank him and praise Him that through the cross you have been delivered from fear.

If I've been set free from fear, so can you.

Revolution of Love

The world, throughout the past, the present and also the future has and will continue to be, shaped and changed by revolutions. For the better and also for the worst.

The Church (body of Christ) as a whole need a revolution too. Not a natural one, but a spiritual revolution. A revolution of love, in which the church of God begin to rise up to be all that the Lord has created and called us to be. We're called to love one another and to love the world.

The bible says in the book of Romans (5:5), that Gods love is in us. "and hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us." and also in Galatians (5:22) the Word of God says that love is one of the fruits of the spirit. God's love is in us to be released into the world. We have the capacity to walk, talk and to live in a lifestyle of love towards the people around us. We may not feel like loving people because of the hurts and injustice we've experienced in the past or which we may be experiencing now. sometimes people can be unkind, insensitive, cruel and all kinds of things to us, but God in His word has commanded us to love others, even our enemies. What God has commanded, He has also given us the Grace to do. As we choose to depend on God and allow His Love to flow out of us, the world will begin to be reached for Christ. Be encouraged, for the Lord has enabled us to love the world with His love.
